Why is choosing your virtual assistant business name important?
One of the very first things you need to do when starting your virtual assistant business is to name your business. This seemingly simple step can be a major pitfall and can cause you to stall and not launch your business.
I absolutely, positively do not want this for you.
Choosing your name is an important first step because everything that you will do after will include your business name.
Ideas for choosing your virtual assistant business name.
The simplest and easiest way is to include your name and add virtual assistant, virtual services, virtual support, or virtual solutions after it.
When I first started my virtual assistant business, my name was Tara Shea Virtual Assistant. I am literally the least creative person you will ever meet, so this was as good as it was going to get.
If you don’t want to use your name, you can brainstorm in a notebook a bunch of words that best describe you.
Here are a few names that my clients have chosen for their businesses that I love:
Admin Virtuosa
East to West VA Services
Cozy Creative Services
Virtually Pepper
Whatever you do, don’t overthink your business name.
Do not spend more than a few days working on this. Send a few ideas to family or friends and see what resonates with them. You can always ask me as well! (Shoot me an email at tara@tarasheatheva.com anytime!)
You can always change your name. Gasp! I know…Your virtual assistant business is going to naturally and organically grow and evolve.
You are never locked into anything, and that definitely includes your business name.
I changed the name of my virtual assistant business after one year.
Remember how I mentioned that I started out with Tara Shea Virtual Assistant? I never truly loved that name, but it was keeping me from moving forward with my VA business, so I went with it.
One day I was talking to a friend and she nonchalantly said, “Oh hey, Tara Shea the VA!”.
It stuck and I ended up changing my business name to what it is today, Tara Shea the VA.
If you are planning on registering your business as an LLC in the future, I would make sure you love the name you choose before becoming an LLC. If not, it’s not a big deal but you will have some additional charges.
